CIUT Update

Back

The following is a reaction to the articles submitted in our last coverage of the CIUT situation by Dr. Trance, Channel Master at 1 GroovE.com, a show under the supervision of Virtually Canadian. Directly following are responses from the former show hosts of "Places and Spaces", formerly broadcast on CIUT UofT radio.

Doctor trance wrote:

If you assholes had even the vaguest of clues, you'd realize that I work FOR David Marsden. That CIUT was one of several stations approached to simulcast portions of 1groove.com's netcast. That when you show how ignorant you are by claiming not to know who David Marsden is, it only shows your lack of knowledge of radio in general and the art of communication. Do you or any of your cronies have a chapter written about you in "Understanding Media"? Do you even know what that book is, or do your ideas about radio come from the caves you have apparently been living in since Reginald Fessenden made his first long range voice transmission in 1906?

Manohar responded:

If you work for an organization then you represent what that particular organization stands for. Good and Bad. I don't think hiding behind ignorance is an excuse. It would be like a Nike employee saying "what we exploit workers in developing nations??? I didn't know that.. talk to Phil Knight". If Dr Trance is making a name for himself at Virtually Canadian than he should answer to the criticism of his company's practices as well, and not hide behind his boss. The only ignorant person here is Professor Electronica, or I mean Dr Trance who has no idea about the shady company he works for. But he essentially would sell his soul to the devil to further his own weak musical cause. I can't wait till the CRTC shuts you clowns down.

For your Information:

Bullshit! Virtually Canadian is a wholly owned subsidiary of a holding company called Iceberg Media.com, Inc. This holding company used to be called Cable Copper Mines Limited until it bought an upstart 936508 Ontario, Inc. from founder John F. Walters (Phone # (416) 364-6804 ext. 254) and turned it into Virtually Canadian Broadcasting Network (VCBN). Until it bought out Virtually Canadian this year, Cable Copper held 11 mining interests in Ontario. Cable Copper's proprietorship belonged to a group of investors affiliated with Banro, Inc. Now you say that VCBN has nothing to do with Banro? Then why is Richard J. Lachcik on the board of directors of Iceberg Media.com? For those of you who don't know of Mr. Lachick, he sits on the board of directors of Banro. He is affiliated with the law firm Macleod Dixon and has extensive experience and is very active in the securities and mining industry. He's a key wheeler and dealer - his specialties include brokering deals for IPOs, takeovers, mergers, etc. (His contact info: phone (416) 202-6711; email lachcir@macleoddixon.com ). In addition you have someone named A. Thomas Griffis sitting on Iceberg's board of directors - another name associated with the mining industry.

The story of Virtually Canadian seems to be this:

John F. Walters founds 936508 Ontario, Inc. as an internet media upstart. Needing capital to drive this profit driven venture, the upstart turns to insiders in the mining industry (who are eager to use their profits from the mining industry to fund other profit driven ventures). Cable Copper Mines, Ltd is used to create a holding company for Virtually Canadian. Thus, the mandate of Virtually Canadian is to return a profit on the investment channeled through the mining industry from a holding company controlled by Banro, Inc.

Now Mr. Marsden. Don't tell me there's no connection between Virtually Canadian and Banro, Inc. Please don't insult our intelligence. We've done our homework here and know the deal going down despite the buffers that have been placed around Virtually Canadian. Nilan Perrera, Matt Lenner, and SAC are simply puppets dangling on the strings of your profit driven investment - an investment derived from the mining industry through a company whose profit is derived from the exploitation of underdeveloped nations. Sadly, this is what CIUT and SAC now represent.
