Hey there headz, This is Paradox broadcasting to you live from the nation's capitol, Chocolate City. Which nation? Well last time I checked, Ottawa could be called a lot of things, but Chocolate City wasn't one of them... Naw, we're coming at you from Washington D.C. where the city is 70% black but the people are only 70% real.... In this space, you'll find frequently updated reviews of the hottest spots and shows in the city. The reviews will be chiefly by the Ethiopian Hunter and I, but there will also be the occasional guest contributors as well.

Looking for techno and Jungle beats? Trying to get your freak on during the week? Wanna see white kids in the ghetto? Mango Wednesday's satisfies all of these desires... Newly renovated and revamped, Nations nightclub owned by club mogul Mark Barnes (Republic Gardens), brings an alternative to the typically upscale club scene in D.C. Clearly realizing the difficulty of getting people to come out on a summer week night, Barnes came up with the only solution: Cater to the high school kids! With no dress code, high security and everyone over 18 admitted, the raver kids, skateboards in tow, come out in droves to get their groove on to an assorted collection of East coast DJ's.

The club has two main areas, both featuring superior sound systems and ample dance floor space; and if you've ever seen people dance to Jungle, you know how necessary that is! (Think: Puffy on speed...) The first room has an elevated DJ booth and dance floor. It also has a bar at the back and plenty of seating on the side for when you've had your fill. This room opens up to the outside which features the best club patio in the city. It has four separate levels including a bar, a seated table area and an observation deck used solely for scoping! Attached to the "spot the booty" deck, is the outside DJ area where the turntable maestros can fully view how they're moving the crowd. Nations apparently has a third room, but it is only utilized on the weekends (more reviews to follow).

And if all of that isn't enough to float your boat, added to the excitement level is the fear that you may have no ride to return to after the night is through. Located just off of South Capitol St. in the one of the worst parts of D.C., parking is done fully at your own risk. So if you've got access to a vehicle that you're not particularly fond of, and you're looking for something different, check out Mango Wednesdays at Nations night club.

ps- Illest concept for a song that I've heard in two years that has nothing to do with Mos Def: Eminem - Stan (f. Dido)
