Aight y'all. It's been a while since I hit you with my thoughts, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to make my commentaries on hip-hop and the world at large. So without further ado, enter the mind of a madman.
- First, and right off the bat, I'd like to apologize to all the CyberKrib's female readership for the next paragraph or so. Those who know me know better, but I was watching BET tonight for the first time in a long ass time, and some shit just pissed me off. Five words, and nuff people will know what I'm talking about. Destiny's Child, "Bills, Bills, Bills." Now for those fortunate enough not to have heard it yet, the chorus goes something like this. "You can pay my light bill, you can pay my water bill, you can pay my automo-bill, then we can chill." WHAT?!?!?!?!? Which world are you living in bitch? HELL NO I'm not paying for your ass. Get out there, get a job, and pay for your OWN SHIT, THEN we can chill. I thought we had moved beyond the place where a man had to pay for everything for a woman? Big up to all my independent sisters, keep stepping to all money-grubbing gold diggers.
- There are some SERIOUSLY sick people in this world. I'm not just talking about those crazed wallet grabbers, I'm talking about SERIOUS sickness. Go check out this URL: http://www.cnn.com/US/9906/27/AM-RevengeKilling.ap/
Back? Now how can any sane, normal human being do that to themselves, people they claim to love, or their own pickney? I'm not a big fan of capital punishment, but in this case, I say fry him. I'll pour the water on him.
- On a more positive note - props to the Mountain Brothers. This independent Philly crew nearly got their "Galaxies: The Next Level" video into full rotation on eMpTyV. If you haven't heard this track yet, go straight to www.mountainbrothers.com - it's kinda hot. The video is also getting play on the Box, so if you get either of these channels, check it out.
- Since I won't be watching BET or listening to the radio for another good little while, (you saw above what happens when I do), it's a damn good thing there's internet radio. Check www.88hiphop.com for an example. On the channel there are several shows. Beatminerz radio brings the best in hip-hop well mixed by Evil Dee and Mr. Walt on Pandemonium Mondays, Finsta from Finsta Bundy on Neva Say Neva Wednesday, and Almitra and Cynical on Frantic Fridays. Channel Live drops in with an Illegal Broadcast on the last Wed. of every month too. Other shows worth checking include Queendom, hip-hop from a female persepective, and 88 Daily News. If there's nothing live that interests you, check the archives, lots of wicked shows there.
- Now that independent artists are finally getting some love again in the industry (witness Soundbombing II and Sway & Tech) can we finally see something from: Natural Resource, Pumpkinhead, The Bad Seed (www.hiphopsite.com/makin), J-Live, an album from The High & Mighty, Jigmastas, The Arsonists, Jurassic 5, Rasco, Dilated Peoples, Lootpack, Cage (I wanna see him and Eminem battle SOOOO badly) and Jedi Mind Tricks?
- While we're talking about independents, make sure you slide over to www.hiphopsite.com and have a listen to the stuff by Mystik Journeymen, Polyrhythm Addicts, Souls Of Mischief, DJ Spinna among the rest of the stuff.
Well, that's about it for now. Peace to my bredrens, catch you all on the next review.
