I can't take it any more! Every time I channel surf past BET or even Much Music
there's either titties or an ass shaking in my face. Now fellas, imagine seeing
D'Angelo's "How does it feel" video every time you turn to one of these stations.
This is only way you could possibly understand what I'm feeling (and I'm sure
many other ladies too). I mean, I'm not trying to say you can't show a woman's
body. Just, why can't it be done tastefully? For example Bilal's "Soul Sista"
video, now that's art rather than soft porn.
I just really don't understand why one would want to put their goods on display for ogling like they have nothing else to be proud of. Simply put, why do so many young ladies strive to be video hoes? I got an ass and some breasts too, not as firm though but who could without a little help from Mr. Silicone (hint hint). Exactly, what are we teaching our young impressionable black girls? That your main concern in life should be to have a fat ass and big breasts? Yah, that's real good. Don't they find it just a tad bit degrading to have some man pouring liquor on their chest, but I guess it's for their dead homies so it's all right, right? Really now, how do you show your parents what you do? "Mom quick! Put it on BET! Yah that's me, you can't see my face though, only my ass shaking. Aren't you proud of me?!" Is that how you want to be remembered when you die? "Hey! That's that girl with the big tits from the Ja Rule videos". I'm sure many think that they're famous now and like the attention, but either way you're not getting any respect. Women will see you as a video hoe and the men may wanna chat you, but they still think of you as a hoe and that is probably their main motivation for talking to you. Black people, we are so much more superior, stronger and classier than this weak, worthless shit that we're putting on display for the world to see. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be in the spotlight, so the ones that are should use their time wisely.
The Other day on MAD TV they did a skit called "Is money driving Black People crazy" and for a second I was almost offended. Then, as I watched it and thought about all these trashy videos, I had to sit back and laugh because the skit made sense. Yah its great to have money, be rich and look good, but it's better to be wealthy not only in dollars but in the mind, body and soul as well. Would it kill these video directors to be creative? I mean shit, all these videos look the same to me, trashy! I would give so much more respect to the director who challenges the popular TnA videos and makes a tasteful one, then the one who just goes along with what's popular whether it's degrading their people or not. But I guess they don't need my respect cause they can buy a whole case of that with all the cash 'they rollin' in. Which is most likely the reason why these videos and other related things are so garbage right now, because they don't need to eat no more. "What the hell did she say??" What I mean is, that when you're rappin or directing or whatever you do cause you need to put food on your table and clothes on your back or just have a love for it, you're more intense and care about producing top quality things. When you have all the money you want, you figure I can just do whatever cause my shit's already selling, so basically they don't care! For me though, I'd have to weigh my options and I don't think it would be too hard to decide ...cash or THE ELEVATION OF MY PEOPLE ...you be the judge.
