On a perfect summer mid-day, Saturday August 11. 2007 rude gyals city wide gathered at behind the Bohemian Lofts, in an abandoned parking lot to be a part of the open casting call for The Return of the Bgirl videoshoot.

I had originally written the single after a long spell of love & heart break songs, and grew tired of my own sappiness. It was time for a return to the spirit of battle and general rudeness! As such, I wanted the video to reflect the talents and beauty of many amazing women I know from around the way here in Toronto - working their 9 to 5's, hustling their talent and generally juggling these responsibilities with ease and making it look so good. The director Cazhhmere of The NE was a natural choice, and together we built on a video concept of female crews inspired by the movie The Warriors.

The 3 crews, Pulau Island Gyals, Strobelight Clique and Ghetto Stush were each themed to their own attitude and style of dress, and comprised of ladies from all walks of life. Celebrity fam at the shoot include Isis (Thunderheist), DJ Loqenz and bgirls Lady Noyz & Poly Rhythm. The dancers were the focal point of the production as dancehall Queen Kayann battled house dancer Apolonia, and bgirl Tangie went head to head with Eclipse. Representing the Pulau Gyals, Bgirl Mak threw down some surprise combinations that rounded out the battles.

It is truly a blessing to have an idea of bringing together Toronto's most illustrious females and watching it unfold in real time, allowing the personalities and styles to provide the talent and vibes captured in the final video. I had an amazing time, and I hope this production plants the seeds for future collaborations between this city's Queens. Big up the female massive!
