Every now and again, one gets the urge for something slightly different from the norm. Enter British DJs Ollie Teeba and Jake Wherry, collectively known as the Herbaliser. We last saw these two on the album "Blow Your Headphones," a musically excellent album that was largely slept on.
Hip-hop heads and R&B lovers alike should enjoy this album. It consists mostly of chunky rhythms, with the occasional guest artist. The group has a very strong hip-hop influence, as shown by their reliance on breakbeats and scratches, espectially on "Wall Crawling Giant Insect Breaks."
I recommend this album to anyone, as it's a beautiful display of musicality. Also, make sure you check for guest MC What What of Natural Resource. Canadian heads will also recognize the Dream Warriors, who make an appearance on "Road Of Many Signs."
Tracks to check for: "Mission Improbable," featuring What What, "When I Shine," featuring Bahamadia, "Goldrush", "Shattered Soul," "The Sensual Woman," "Let It Go," also featuring What What and "The Missing Suitcase."
The final verdict: A great album for long car rides, listening to at work without offending your coworkers, chilling with the peeps, or just kicking around your yard. R&B cats will like this album for its musicality, and hip-hop heads will love the beats and guest lyricists. A little something for everyone, and worth every ducat you spend on it.
