Another beautifully musical oeuvre from Nightmares on Wax, Carboot Soul begins much like Smoker's Delight (the first track is almost identical), but from there, it diverges into another exploration of breakbeats and soul.

Making more use of vocals than Smoker's Delight, Carboot Soul is still very minimalist in terms of lyricism. The overall feel of this album is consistent with the previous album, but slightly darker. In addition, more live instruments were used, resulting in a warmer sound.
