With the release of their latest album, "Things Fall Apart," and the upcoming release of their live album, the Roots remain one of the most critically acclaimed groups in hip-hop today. It is doubly ironic then that many don't realize that "Do You Want More," was actually the group's second album. The first is the hard to obtain Organix, originally only released in Europe.

This album showcases a younger and less-refined Roots. Despite having less musical maturity at this point, the album is brilliant, flowing through jazzy riffs to a land of pure hip-hop. ?love's drums still lay the foundation, with Hub on bass, Scott Storch on keys and freestyle sounding lyrics from Black Thought and Malik B.

It's interesting to hear the progression the Roots has made musically since this album, and also interesting to see how the more things change for the group, the more things stay the same. Although their techniques have changed and grown along with them, the basic formula of great live instrumentation backing a live MC or two has remained.

Tracks to check for: "Pass the Popcorn," "Good Music," "Grits," "Leonard I-V," "Essawhama?" "Peace," "Common Dust," and "The Session." The entire album is strong, but these tracks stand out.

The final verdict: Music for those who appreciate music, this album will be enjoyed by most who hear it. It's worth the effort to try to track this one down for a listen.
