(SHUFFLE)
Now, many of you not be familiar with the name Jack Knight but he is the producer of many hit singles including Monifa's "Touch It", along with tracks for Chico D'Barge, Total, and more.
"Gypsy Soul" is a mix of good and not-so-good tracks, the sad thing being that no tracks really come out and hit you on this LP. Jack Knight has a singing style to "The Artist" which doesn't seem to work well over most of his production.
"Do What U Wanna Do" is a nice mellow track, with that Kedar neo-soul feel to it. A track dedicated to those ladies that will their own thing, "as long as the come home to me." However, this track is wrecked with a corny ass rap within that last 8 bars of the track.
"Blueberry Winter" is a very good example of this Prince style, which works best on this track than on any others.
However, other tracks fall on their face before they begin with "Ohh I Have It" which is a faster joint that just has no good qualities to it, "Gypsy Blues", the tital track, sounds like a bad attempt at a crossover to adult contemporary, and Gigolos lyrically with it's message that "Gigolos get lonely too."
A nice attempt by Jack, but I think his place is behind the mixing board, and not behind the mic.
